Jacume Ruins
Coming down the Historic Hwy 80, just west of the town of Jacumba is the border fence. Looking across it into Mexico one can spot many house ruins that extend eastward behind a group of hills. This is Jacume that once was a bustling town, where the residents would travel back and forth with neighboring Jacumba. They could buy and sell wares and were on good terms with their neighbors. Then came 911 in 2001 and up went the fence. what was once a 15 minute walk, was now a 2 Hour+ dive and long border wait, the town next to the border began to die, though I am not sure about the town further south. Also things may be turning with the Wind farms being built nearby. This was a good opportunity to use my Telephoto. Though the day was a bit dusty due to high winds, which resulted in a drop of quality, I managed to get some good shots. These ruins dot the hillsides and land just beyond the border fence. 150-600mm.
