Mildred Falls

in Height 200+ feet
Cleveland National Forest San Diego California Seasonal Obstructed View. Located within the San Diego River Valley, this the tallest straight drop waterfall at about 200+ feet when at full flow, neither video is at full flow. Tucked into a small canyon it is fed by Ritchey Creek and like most falls in San Diego is highly seasonal. The falls needs a good period of rain or snow melt to get it started. Due to it being tucked into a box canyon, it is a bit hard to see all of the falls. The top video was taken on Eagle Peak Summit with a 30X zoom. The one below was taken on the trail from Ramona Trail to Cedar Creek Falls. it can be seen, when it is flowing, right after you wade across the San Diego River. The great thing about many of the local large falls are the many moods from differing rainfalls. There was a Tragic Death of a Rock Climber, on April of 2011, at this Waterfall. The person had tried to climb down the falls while it was flowing and had not brought enough rope to reach the bottom, he got tangled in his ropes. |
