Table Mountain as viewed from The Jacumba Wilderness
The first think you notice are the rich reds to yellows of the volcanic soil, for Table Mountain is Volcanic in origin. There are many Volcanic Features in the area, dating back to about 20-30 Million years ago. The mountain was considered sacred to native peoples in the area.
This road we hiked up from Mica Gem Mine Road, named after a mine passed along the way.
Ahead can be seen what appear to be quarries cut into the mountain side.

One of the many quarries found on the edges of Table Mountain. Looking at the different colors,one can see the volcanic origin of the area.
Above is some vivid reddish soil, and some bright yellowish green lichens
I was sitting on some rocks to get a better vantage when I noticed this feature,to me it would appear to be a small water resevoir with cover stones.
Yes I know this is not PC, but this is the name of this formation. You can see some of The Jacumba Hikers climbing across it
