The Airplane Monument is located on The Airplane Monument Trail in The Cuyamamac Forest, high up on the way to The Japacha Ridge. The Memorial is an old Liberty V-12 Engine from a crashed Twin seated Army Dehavind DH48 Biplane that crashed in Dec 7th 1922. The airplane had disappeared and was not located till May 4th 1923 when the pilots and a passenger remains were discovered by George W. McCain.
The Memorial was dedicated in may of 1923 and was redone twice over the years. The engine is from the wreckage.
